Hamlet: The Cursed Castle

Hamlet: The Cursed Castle is a eerie fantasy 3D isometric puzzle game where players navigate between 3D and 2D worlds to progress. By strategically moving objects in the 3D world, players create a path to reach the goal portal in the 2D world using the shadows cast by the objects. A unique gameplay set in a fascinating fantasy version of the historic Shakespearean novel.

This prototype features 13 levels and narrative interludes and was developed by a team of six people over eight weeks as part of an exam project. This project was created for educational purposes and will not receive further updates or bug fixes.

Controls
In the 3D World:

• WASD – Move Hamlet

• Spacebar – Jump

• E – Drag and pull objects / Enter or exit the purple portal (switch between 3D and 2D worlds)

• Q - Change Camera Focus
  

• Escape - Pause
  

• Unlockable (later levels):

  
  

  • Left Shift – Dash

In the 2D World:

• WASD – Move Hamlet

• E – Leave the 2D world through the portal

Known Issues

The prototype is far from polished and has several bugs:

• Hamlet may get stuck when dragging or pulling an object; pressing E again or waiting resolves the issue.

• Some objects can be pushed outside boundaries and or beyond walls.

• Hamlet might fall outside the map when switching back to the 3D world.

• Levels can be skipped by spamming the Spacebar during the interludes between levels.

• Ophelia and Horatio's 2D projections are not visible from the 3D world.
